Clearly defined phase-angle error specification
Conventional voltage transducers only specify ratio error and provide no phase-angle rating; they are thus suitable only for stand-alone voltage measurement. When the transducer is used for power measurement, however, the phase-angle error becomes a critical factor affecting accuracy. The VS series voltage transducers feature a clearly defined phase-angle specification, with a typical phase displacement as low as 1 arc-minute, making them the preferred choice for power-measurement applications.
The table below lists the power-measurement error caused by a 10′ phase-angle error (≈0.0029 rad, equivalent to the error limit of a class 0.2 electromagnetic transformer) as the phase angle varies from 0° to 90°:
